Uploader Notes: For the first time ever on the internet, this is the 1993 demo by UK thrashers, Dr Butcher.
Formed in Balham, South London in 1990, Dr Butcher started out as a death metal band influenced by the likes of Morbid Angel and Massacre. The band's first release was the "Seven Doors of Death" rehearsal demo in June 1990. Dr Butcher played their first gig in March 1991 supporting Necrosanct and Decomposed at the renowned Cartoon Club in Croydon. In September 1991 Dr Butcher recorded their first studio demo entitled "Half a Loaf of Death Metal", which led to the band receiving international exposure through various fanzines around the world. However, in 1992 the band decided to change their style to a more thrash metal oriented direction.
In early 1993 Dr Butcher played gigs in the Surrey area supporting Dark Heresy; shrugging off their early death metal roots, Dr Butcher's set now consisted of all new material as well as a cover of the Agent Steel classic, "Agents of Steel". In June 1993 Dr Butcher recorded their next studio demo, "Above Top Secret", which received positive reviews in the demo sections of both Kerrang! and Terrorizer magazines. Following the release of the demo, the band continued to work on new material but by 1994 Dr Butcher was no more, splitting up largely due to musical differences.
