Here is the masterpiece 7" 'Flying High' by HOLLOW GROUND issued by Guardian Records in 1980 [#GR/HG C57] and produced by Terry Gavaghan at Guardian Studios, Pity-Me Durham.
HOLLOW GROUND recorded 6 songs for the Guardian label, 4 showed up on the Roksnax 1980 split ("Flying High", "Rock On", "The Holy One" and "Fight with the Devil"). Two of the songs ("Flying High" & "Rock On") was also included on this EP. The 7" was pressed in 500 copies. A small quantity of them (rumoured 100-200 copies) came with a picture sleeve with artwork by Stephen Lodge.
Singer Glenn Coates left HOLLOW GROUND to join FIST in 1982 for their ''Back With A Vengeance' album. This defection signalled the end for HOLLOW GROUND. In 2007 the band were asked to reform and play at the Headbangers Open Air Festival in Germany. They were received very favourably, particularly by fans of the NWOBHM, who were delighted to see one of the 'lost' bands of that era perform live. A live clip of the bandperforming "Flying High" can be seen here: youtube.com/watch?v=g9AHMWIerbw
Thanks to Mik for the Front & Back scans.
