In some of my posts, some of you have read me talking about an obscure Brazilian Band called HAGGAR ! It was, by his time, even requested by Westrogoth, and I say here all my apologies as I just have discovered this request now !! So here is this Demo, in an fuckin' EPIC HEAVY METAL Style in the pure Vein of early WARLORD (US) / OMEN (US) / MANOWAR !! I find this demo amazing and still is one of my favourite Demo of all times !!
The most incredible is THAT IT DOES'NT EXIST a single information about this Band on the net !! A guy took the credit on Metal-Archives for having listed in the site, just because I have uploaded this Demo on Thrashmageddon site some years ago ! Even few other guys who had this Demo on tape before had it by myself in a way or another when I was into tape-trading stuff between 1989 - 1996 !!
Here is the story :
In 1995, Jens BÖRNER (LONEWOLF's Leader - I was the manager of the Band from 1990 to 1994) lend me this tape to burn it for myself. He himself has exchanged the tape against 1 copy of LONEWOLF's "The Calling" Demo 1993. From the very 1st listening, I was amazed by this EPIC feeling although some low production. There is passion for Heavy Metal in this tape ! Still now, I still remind Jens of this Tape and say "do you remember this amazing Band ?" He told me he lost the original tape in a move .. The only thing I remember is that the cover was in black / white with a Warrior with an Axe in his hand. Probably, the band itself doesn't remember this undiscovered Jewel ... !!

The first demo tape by PORTRAIT sent to me by Outlawed, thanks a lot man!.
São Paulo Heavy Metal act conceived in 1989 under the billing of ARENA, this outfit comprising vocalist Stan, guitarists Theo and Rinaldo Zupelli, bassist Bleno Jr. and drummer Fabio for a demo 'First Art'. In 1991 this act lost their rhythm section and, with the introduction the following year of Adriano Gandolfi on bass and drummer Marcelo Rocha a second demo was recorded, 'To Remember Someday', going on to sell over 900 copies.
PORTRAIT inducted singer Marcelo Moss in 1996. The debut album 'Voices', which featured a cover of GENGHIS KHAN'S "Moscow", saw contributions from keyboard player Ronaldo Bodáo. Following valuable 1997 support dates to PAUL DI ANNO, BLIND GUARDIAN and GAMMA RAY the band replaced Gandolfi with new bass man Emerson Barcos.
PORTRAIT contributed their version of 'Edge Of Thorns' to the Dwell Records SAVATAGE tribute album 'Return Of The Mountain King'. The band had evolved further by this juncture, now comprising ANGEL HEART singer Gustavo Monsanto, guitarist Gilberto Bressan, bassist Emerson Barcas, keyboard player José Antonio Cardillio and drummer Marcelo Rocha. In October of 2004 PORTRAIT introduced new singer Neno Fernando, a veteran of DESTRA and ABSTRACT SHADOWS. - Musicmight

The rip was made by a band menber, unhapply 3th tune (Hell Metal) have some problems... There are two extra songs of other demo, that unhapply i don't know wich is (The first one and the last ..) hope you'l like, one of the best demos from Here ..i must say! \m/. ANO LUZ was one of the biggest underground bands in Sao Paul back in the 80's featuring vocalist Rick Swanson/Francisco Alves Dias of OPIUM. The band almost came to sign a million dollar contract with the RCA Victor label. But at the last minute of dealing, the contract was denied by the label becouse they found the sound "too heavy", the band later disbanded mysteriously. Nowadays he owns a tatto studio called Midgard Tattoo Studio in the city of Vitoria, where the band was created. What we have here is a debut album which is, as A II Z also did, a live album. Although they released a demo and a single before this album. Bare in mind the sound quality is about of a bootleg because it was recorded on an 8-Track without any overdubs or post recording mixing. The 3 bonus tracks came with the 1998 re-issue of the album.

A very awesome and obscure Brazilian release with a great looking cover-art made by the vocalist Midgard (Fábio) himself, he also composed the songs. The other members were guitarist Carrasco, bassist Guardiao and drummer Animal. They also released a demo entitled "The Living Side of Death" in 1987 which I am looking for a rip of, please get in touch if you have it for share.
