Stormbringer was founded in 1982 by members who later would form the heavy metal band PHOENIX. After the release of Phoenix's first 4-track '86 demo they had a short name-change and played under the name NEW BRAND for a while and recorded a 8-track demo the same year: New Brand - Demo (1986). They later changed back to PHOENIX again in 1987.
