Info:
Blue Planet is the new project of Chuckie Thanyarat, former (and talented) guitar player of the first thai "heavy metal" band The O-Larn Project: they released 2 CD, in 1987 and 1990 before Chuckie took a different direction and pursued a solo career.
"Pa Fan" is the only album released by Blue Planet and it was originally a cassette-only edition. It was re-released in a luxury, limited edition a couple of years ago by local label/music studio Mon-D-Ney but it seems virtually impossible to find nowadays. I could find a copy signed by the band members. As you can see the packaging is simply amazing and there is also a bonus DVD with 2 songs (first 2 songs of the album) that I couldn't upload simply because...I don't know how to do.
Musically speaking this is a pretty lame hard rock with some touches of heavy and even more touches of melody and symphony, resulting even more boring and commercial because of the use of native language. But this kind of "heavy metal" was pretty popular and spreaded in south - east asia (I think to the dozens and dozens of similar bands from Malaysia, generally listed on the M.A. but with very few in common with what we call real "heavy metal")....well, guess that this was the best effort that Thailand could offer at the time (the other 2 "rock/metal" bands that I have in mind are O-Larn Project and Flesh & Skin) and even in the following years the local scene didn't grew too much. So, better than nothing, here's an exotic piece of archeologic "metal" from the Empire of Siam!
