Info:
Tyazhelyij Den' are a sort of cult band from the ex-USSR. They were born from the ashes of a previous band called Niuans (you can find on some russian websites a tape that gathers all their recordings from 1986-1987) and they were leaded by talented guitarist Sergeij Chesnokov (later in Chernyij Kofe/Black Coffee) and - expecially - the carismatic and incredible singer Vladimir Bazhin who later joined Kruiz's guitarist Valerij Gajna in his solo project "Gain".
As you can see from the pictures in the booklet, Bazhin was - more than a singer - a real carachter, half way between some japanese buddhist monk and some ghoulish eastern creature, a true pleasure to eyes for those who had the luck to see them playing live.
Musically speaking this is a pretty good metal/speed with lighter touches, a pretty over the line interpretation by every band member and good production.
They had previously released a mini-ep with 3 songs always on the state-based Melodiya label and would release another Lp in 1989 and a Split Lp in 1992 with more incisive speed/thrash touches.
This Lp (literally translated it means "In flight") is the only one re-printed on CD 8in 2005, by mysterious label Soyuz Records), but it's pretty hard to find and totally unknown outside Russia.
It features also some live tracks recorded somewhere in 1987 with a very clear sound.
Tyazhelyij Den' can be better translated in "Heavy day" as "Tyazhelyij Metall" is the russian saying for "Heavy Metal". Enjoy this nice (and funny) piece of russian metal, inclusive of full scans and some infos.
